Saya is getting huge! over double size in 5 days (feeding her every 1.5 hours when her crop is at about 20%... crop fully empties in the early morning, when I am SLEEPING).

But here is some perspective:

I would put one of my finches next to her... but I dont for two reasons:
My finches are not 'normal' american finches. They are about double the size...
Secondly, when I put a egg (from the same clutch) near them, they decimated it.

Ok, she is 6 days old!
She is eating (every 1.5 hours, and still has 4 feedings at night). Her formula is still 3 to 1 to help her stay hydrated, at 8 days I plan to make it thicker.
Her eyes should start to open soon.

Ok, here is the play by play, and lots of images as requested.

She seems to be growing the way one would hope with a non challenged baby -asking for double the amount of food, and now also defecates on her own. She also is sitting normal, instead of leaning against the nest wall like santa clause.

There was a few spots of what seems to be red fluid or blood on the tissue of the nest. A few days ago this happened as well. Im going to keep an eye on it. It doesn’t seem to be coming from the rectum, so it must be coming from the respiratory system.

In a couple days her eyes will open, and in 7 days she should look like a bird (pin feathers... but at least like a bird)

Right now, she kinda looks like a baby rat:

Its official. She is 1 WEEK OLD!

And she gave me a present this morning. CHIRPING!!!!

Birthday Present to her:
In the next couple days I am going to fit her with a special leg band. I got a set of neon pink leg bands, and never wanting to have a flock of ‘Barbie birds’, I set them aside. But I think she is just unique enough to have one of these ostentatious bracelets.

She is 3.9 grams and formula is going to be thicker now (2 to 1) and adding a touch of Spirulina in the morning feeding. She is getting more difficult to feed - wiggles too much and is learning to crawl around, it is easier to hold her, but she is so delicate it is a bit nerve racking.
