thanks Robin! They look like a possibility too!Could do something similar to this but maybe find them in SS. I have some of these for my tree, you would need to find a screw that would screw to the wood then the cup would screw to that. Maybe ask them to send you the screws to go with them. When I ordered extra the screws didn't come with them.

and you my dear have solved the problem in one fell swoop.......the bolt is *just* long enough to go through 1" wood and tighten the wingnut on. I just have to get another hole drilled at the right height for it!what about something like this Stainless Steel Coop Cups 10oz
