Cutest Bird Ever!!!
Since I'll be going out to the vet Thursday, Mom #2 (future MIL) asked if she could run the self cleaning feature on the oven. I told her that all ovens that are self cleaning typically have teflon/ptfe, and that it was a really bad idea, even if my birds and I will be gone for a few hours. She's all adamant that it doesn't have teflon/ptfe... nevermind that I've pulled up articles before. Anyways, she's irritated because the birds are preventing her from doing this. Oven hasn't been cleaned in 8+ years or so. She made some snide comment about the birds again and I walked off. I was determined to find a better route; one that's safe for the fids, and us. Heated teflon isn't good for anyone.
Well, cleaning was easy. I sprayed a mix of dawn, water, and lemon and let it soak, then made a baking soda and dawn paste and scrubbed. It took a while to scrub off, but really, I doubt this so called self cleaning would even do anything but scorch whatever was in there. The grates are sparkly clean now, and you can see the bottom of the oven.
I win.
