i have done my research before getting a meyers parrot, he's a bit older and i can't blame him for being a bit on edge with a new home. i bonded with him before bringing him home. i explain a bit more in my other thread, so, read that if you want to know how i got him. he will step up, kiss, and he loves to chatter.

but, there is one thing that worries me, he will allow a head scratch here and there. but, if he doesn't want one or is scared, he opens his beak, leans forward, opens his wings and makes an 'ahh!' sound. is this something i should worry about? it's clear by his body language that sometimes he wants scratches, and sometimes he doesn't. i respect that. but, i don't want to let it go over my head incase this is something i really do need to worry about. he loves to chatter, and will talk until you talk back. should i play bird sounds for him? or would that scare him? sorry for all the questions, i just want my baby to be comfortable.

I have no idea, my Meyers never did that.
Perhaps @iamwhoiam can help you?

My Jardines will literally growl if he isn't interested in scritches lol. He is a super love bug but sometimes he just isn't the mood :)

he's fine until he can see her, then he freaks out and wants to be with her.. he never bites though, makes me wonder if he's just a horny boy. @Mizzely

More than likely. All the poi boys I know right now seem to be in the mood. I only have 6 months of experience though so I'm not the best person to ask

Thank you so much for sharing the photo. I just love all their feather colors. Nice stand for him.
