The pain seems to be worse when you have fought as hard as you did for her, but it does lessen with time and you remember how sweet she was and how she brought you joy. Look up and say hi to her now and then.

You hit the nail on the head. At 8pm that night I would have said her status had changed from hanging on to moving forward.

I was up all night running everything through my head over and over.

I appreciate everyone’s kind words. I can keep it together when I’m not on this site, but my vision starts to blur when I read everyone’s comments.

You had a terrible experience, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't have a macaw. Take some time to process this, and get a necropsy done if it's not too late (you need to make arrangements to do that quickly after death, and you can't freeze the body). And whoever you got her from... I'd probably do something there too...
