Oh Brian, I'm so sorry. You did everything you could for her. I was sure after your last few posts that she was going to make it. She was getting stronger. Without you she wouldn't not have even had that.

You are a macaw person and I believe that another will find its way to you when it is time.

I'm so sorry she left you. You and your vet did the best you could for her and in her short time she was happy and knew she was safe and loved. When your ready maybe you can find another bird needing a loving flock.

Dear Brian, I am so very sorry you lost your girl Sister. I am glad though, that you found your way here to the Avenue and shared your journey though it was so short with her. I wish you comfort in your sorrow and feel that her soul will always be with you. Many blessings for you and that some day the macaw person you've become will carry on... hugs.

I am so very sorry for your loss and the horrible way that you have been introduced to parrots. I highly recommend that you get a necropsy done so you know what happened and if it's what I suspect it is (PDD - Macaw Wasting Disease), you should definitely inform the people you got her from if they have any other birds or are selling other babies.

I know it probably doesn't feel like it now, but you will heal in time and there are so many Macaws out there who need a home. I hope that you will keep your heart open to the idea of maybe trying again when you are ready. They really capture our hearts!

@MILITARYMACAW My heart is breaking for you. You lost a beautiful girl and it is terrible. Just remember that Sister is flying high and free without illness and pain now. I'm sure that my Hank will show her around and introduce her to all of the AA birds who have gone before.

The pain seems to be worse when you have fought as hard as you did for her, but it does lessen with time and you remember how sweet she was and how she brought you joy. Look up and say hi to her now and then.

Years ago a member lost another Military to what I'm almost sure is the same thing that took Sister - PDD, Macaw wasting disease. I will always remember Toby and Sister. Please, at the very minimum ask your vet if he feels that Sister had PDD and take the proper precautions if he feels she did - a necropsy would be best.
