I found a Skink! w/pics

And he's not from around these parts.. I have a feeling he escaped from somebody. He was in a cast iron frying pan that was in my BBQ grill, under the cover. I looked him up and he is a Fire Skink from West Africa.

I had a blue tongued skink. If I saw a skink in a frying pan in my grill I would have screamed!

They are pretty nice for lizards. Mine was very sweet, all she wanted to do was lie on your chest.

He's beautiful! Gold on the back, and red,black, and silver on the sides. The eye is cool, not solid colored...or it looks that way from a line under it, I can't tell. I think he is weak from hunger. He just let me pick him up. I have some herp supplies that I got from an overturned tractor trailer, and still have a tank & screen lid I used for a hospital tank. I will see if anyone in the neighborhood lost a lizard. He could have gotten away from a kid or something.

He is eating like a champ! I gave him some mealworms I had leftover from the honeycreepers, and he gobbled them up.

He's cool looking but reptiles are not my thing, Lol. I hope you can find his home though! I wonder if he's not a pet though... I heard that there's all kinds of reptiles down there that got lose through the Hurricanes and are now living and reproducing here.

Fire skinks are are cool little lizards! Keep him warm and well fed and he will be happy Good luck trying to find his owner!
