Started the process of cleaning and disinfecting litter boxes yesterday, just in case. Since we had 5 cats that is 6 litter boxes. My asthma does not like this process. I can only do a couple a day or I will go into a full blown asthma attack from the dust. Such fun.:wacky:

Oh Elaine. I am so sorry for you and hubby losing two sweet kitties, especially so close together. :sadhug: I hope like @Eloy said, that the necropsies show they are unrelated so you don't have to worry about your other guys. :fingerscrossed:

And I hope Miss Sally cooperates for her medicines & that her recheck goes well!

Yes I wear a mask but it still bothers me some. Usually about 4 hours later.

We didn't do a necropsy on Iris. She was older 15-20 years old. By the time Olivier passed it was too late to do a necropsy on Iris.

The necropsy on Olivier showed no kidney, liver, or lung damage. The only thing was thickening of the GI tract and the GI tract was completely empty. Apparently he was coming to meals but not actually eating. The vet sent samples to Purdue for further analysis but preliminary results are GI infection probably viral.

I am so very sorry to hear this! The timing is just bizarre and boggling!

I hope you can find answers from the necropsy and I too would maybe change food as well as precaution. What food were they eating as for canned/dry?

HUGS to you!

Oh, I’m so very terribly sorry for your losses, Elaine. Losing a furry family member is hard enough, I can’t imagine losing two so quickly. :sadhug2::sadhug2::sadhug2: My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I know that this must be a scary situation trying to figure out what caused all of this and whether or not it could affect your other cats. I hope and pray that nothing else happens to your other beloved pets. Fingers crossed that something can be done soon to help Sally, as well.

I use a full face mask at work, a MSA ultraveiw twin and they make nice half masks that use the exact same cartridges. They make cheaper dust only ones and full on NBC rated ones that will filter out almost anything you can run into provided there is enough oxygen content in the area your in. MSA 480247 Ultravue Silicone Chin-Type Gas Mask Demand Facepiece, Medium, Black: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific https://www.amazon.com/Small-Comfo-...espirator&qid=1554054836&s=industrial&sr=1-55
eBay usually has way better prices on these as I bought the bright yellow silicon full face version for like 25 bucks brand new in a 4 pack years ago when the government or some BIG corporation must have surplussed out thousands of brand new ones and they were all over eBay dirt cheap. I found a 100 or so box of the better P100 pink carts for like 20 bucks shipped also. They were a older version but still new and it took us years to go through them.
You could also try the cheap paper masks but with your issues I'd go with some type of quality respirator mask to have on hand for clean up times when you'll be stiring up dust
