Well he has completely stopped doing it no bleeding and is acting almost normal just breathing alittle heavy. Think I'll call the vet in Nampa and see how much they charge for me to bring him in because my parents live right down the road from there. The vet in Boise is the one that I have used in the past but I really don't like his attitude. I also feels he trys to milk you for every dollar he can.

Called and they said to bring him in but they offer no payment plan. :( He's sitting here with me now acting normal. I did give him some water from a syringe just little drops at a time. There is nothing more coming out.

I have said this before and I will continue to say that if you have bird you must put money away every week for emergency vet visits. They are expensive. I hope Chatters will be okay, but your pet's health, life and well being should not be a matter of money. He is depending on you to take care of him just as much as your human kids are.

Susan, maybe he just got a seed wrong in his mouth, just like we cut the roof of our mouth sometimes on a chip etc. I will email Gary to see if he can offer anything you might want to do. :hug8:

Thanks Pat. I really think that's what might have happened because he is acting completely normal now with no more bleeding or anything. I still have him in the hospital cage though. And he has made some normal calls too.

If he's cut anything it would be soft tissue and it could be anything as minor as his tongue or something as serious as his esophagus or crop. I would offer soft foods for a day or two.

That's all easy to say when you don't know my situation. The fact that my husband is in construction which is not a booming thing right now with the economy and we had 2 pets go to the vet as well as both kids and I having to go to the Dr in the past few months as well as my husband having to go in for a $2,000 x-ray and to a specialist and is looking at having surgery in the next few months. Believe me it's very hard on me but at the same time I don't think I should toss them into some new home. I do the best I can and I think that's what counts. Just because someone falls on hard times doesn't mean they should have to give up their pets that they do love and care for.

I apologize. Believe me, I know that times are hard everywhere and I was in no way implying that you should rehome your birds.

All I meant was that because it's so hard out there it's more important than ever to have somekind of contingency fund for pet emergency's. I try to put $5 a week away because I do know how expensive it is and I don't want to be in the position of not being able to provide the fids with care if they need it. Again I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. Sometimes I just feel so helpless when people get on here and can't afford to take their fabies to the vets. I wish I had a million $$$$ set aside to be able to help.

:hug8: All is well. Believe me I have thought many of times of rehoming them for this reason but not knowing what number of home I am for them I just can't pass them on to another home not knowing if that will be their forever home when I can give them a forever home myself and if times were normal would be able to set money aside.

I just wish vets were more willing to work with people. I know of one vet clinic that will but they don't do birds.
Is there anything that I should give him to help prevent a infection or any type? That is easy to get?

Some do, the vet I use has a fund that helps pay for things. When Elima bit off Topper's toe it cost me around $800 when it was all said and done between the e-clinic surgery (that was half right there) and then the follow up visits with the regular vet (which involved one more surgery.) My regular vet used the fund when the second surgery came up and it helped cover the meds and some of the vet bill. I got the impression that the fund isn't something they advertise as I had no idea it existed until they mentioned it to me when I was in sticker shock about paying for more surgery.

Well he seems to still be doing ok. Still no more bleeding or strange noise. Posture is normal just breathing a bit heavier but that might just be because he's not in his normal cage. I'm uploading another video of how he is doing now. But youtube takes forever to load videos from my camera.

Sorry a little late coming to this thread, but to me it sounds like he accidentally aspirated some food that became lodge and he then most likely broke a blood vessel from the heavy coughing. I'm glad he seems fine, but if he did aspirate you must watch him closely for signs of an infection, which will happen if he didn't get everything up.
