Jogging around the block
Sorry to all that i have been gone for so long. But there were some things that
happened that have left me a shell of the person i used to be. I am hoping that
because we all are aniamal lovers i will not be put down or made fun of. Here is
my story of Rhythm:
It all begins on Sep. 9th, when i took my cat to the vets to have a follow up
visit. In past visits we were told that he had kidney failure and it was in the
begining stages and that we would have some time with him. On this visit we were
told that he was healthly other than the kidney failure. He was given an
antibiotic, a steriod and some fluids. We were told to bring him back in two
weeks. An appointment he would never make.
Sep.15th begain as any other day would. Other than the fact that we could not
find find Rhythm at all. We took our daughter to school and came home and began
the hunt for him. We looked for 2 hours and finaly found him behind the fridge.
I pulled him out and noticed that he was not acting right. I handed him to my
spouse and ran to grab towels. Lyn my spouse noticed that he could not hold his
head up. So i grabbed him from her and began to check him out. As i began to
check him out i noticed that he could not walk and did not have any controll of
his legs. So we wrapped him to keep him warm and held him close thinking this
was the end. 12:30pm rolled around and he was still with us. We decided at this
time that maybe he would want to be alone to pass away. So we went to be for
2hours. And prayed that god do what he wanted to do. We woke up at 2pm and
Rhythm was still alive. At this point i began to question wether or not he had a
stroke. Looking back i know he had 3 strokes. So i called the vets and talked
with his doc who confermied that he had strokes. He told me that if he would eat
and drink for me that there is a good chance that he could come back from this.
Just like if a human has a stroke. So this was good news to hear but scary to
try. So at about 6pm i offered him some steak and he ate it all! He even drank
for me! The vet was right he is fighting. Later that night he tried to get up
and could not. So i took him to his litter box and held him in it and he peed
for me with no problems. Wow what a day!
So for the next three days i began to work with him. We worked on standing and
walking. Streching and musle movement. We did pt three times a day. And he began
to make progress fast. Which made me very happy to know that a 21yr old cat
still had the fight to live no matter what happens. Over the next three days we
worked hard to make progress. I thought things were looking good for the future.
Please bear with me as this is very hard for me to talk about.
Sep.18th was a bad day for Rhythm. He was not himself at all. He had no desire
to do any pt at all. He did not want to eat or drink at all. And this worried me
greatly. I called the vets and spoke with his doctor. His doctor told me that he
thought that he maybe tired from all the pt that he has been doing, He said to
just let him rest and he will eat when he wants to. So i did just that. I let
him relax and chill out. He layed on the couch all day long and it seemed like
he was not there at all. It seemed like his soul was gone and it felt weird to
me. My beloved son was not his self.
On Sep.19th at 4am in the morning Rhythm had a grand mal seizure. Rhythm passed
away in my arms with no pain and not a sound. My beloved son was no longer with
me. I held him for 3hours untill my spouse told me that it was time to put him
somewhere safe.
The next day we went to the pet crematorium to plan for his cremation. We picked
a beautiful urn and picked a time to bring his body in. On the 21st at 9am we
took my sons remains to the pet funeral home. The same day i got his urn and
brought him home to be with me. I loved this cat like no other. Rhythm was a
very special cat to me. He was there though rough and tough times and the good
times too.
So with the story told i say" GOODNIGHT MY BELOVED SON. MAY I SEE YOU AGAIN AT
THE GOLDEN GATES."
