Goodbye, Good boy, Cole

I came home from a weekend away to find that my darling Cole had passed on. He has a very obvious break in his skull over his right eye, and while I will never know what happened, I was told he was chattering and playing this morning. My mom was watching everyone while I was away and since Cole has always played roughly with his toys, she didn't hear anything strange happen, but I found him an hour ago, just after getting home.

I feel completely responsible... like if I was there, I could have saved him. My sister and my logical brain both tried to convince me that a broken skull would have killed him whether or not I was there, but I just can't see it right now. Losing two of my beloved babies so close to one another... it almost kills me.... I almost feel like my heart has left my chest...

Waking up tomorrow and not hearing "helloooo Cole" is going to be heart-wrenching, but I am trying not to think about that now

Fly free my baby, find Sheldon and Scotty and play on the Rainbow Bridge. I hope you will be as happy there as you were with me...

Thank you, everyone. I still haven't let it set in. I am in shock and I feel completely empty, and sorta like I want to throw up. I feel like I keep failing my babies, even though both Cole and Sheldon's deaths both were not my fault. This is the worst feeling in the world.

You should install a camera. I'm suspecting foul play and malicious behavior. Maybe one of your other birds got out or a family member or another bird.

I truly am sorry for your loss...I was thinking about what it would take for my bird to get a cracked skull...It would have to be caused by another family member(human or pet) or if he had something heavy land on him..Sorry to bring it up..
I know how hard this is.
