I am so very sorry! I remember seeing the pics and hearing you talk of your Fiona. I hope that your other birds will be fine, but I am so sorry that you've lost your sweet girl. Is it possible that she tried to pass an egg, maybe? I wish I knew! So horrible not knowing. Big huge hugs to you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Being so young, she may have had an unknown medical condition. She was beautiful.

I thought about that too, Rio and Fiona were pretty close. They preened eachother too. I never saw them ‘in the act’, but maybe.

Thank you all for your replies, it really helps.
My dad says he doesn’t want to do a necropsy as he says they can be expensive. My plan right now is getting the other three checked out to make sure the same won’t happen to them. Luckily because of the long easter weekend i am able to spend more time with Rio, Angel and Kiwi. They must be down about it too.

One last question; i now have 3, is that a problem? I have heard having an uneven number of birds is not recommended, but to what extent?

Thinng is... and this is too late for you but I’m going to say it for others’ benefit.... the cost of a necropsy is less than taking 3 birds to the vet. For me, a necropsy is $60 and a vet check is about twice that (without blood work).

Plus with a necropsy you’d know for absolute certain what was wrong.

As far as 3 birds, why not just wait and see how they get on?
