Are those red feathers on the head & neck of the lower chick? I thought Eclectus chicks had colours of both sexes for awhile until they're older?

No, they pin out in their adult colors. So males have green heads and females have red heads. In a couple days it will be more obvious. Also the pins along their wing feathers will be visible soon which will help. I'll post a pic a day so you can all guess for a couple days.

I Can't Stop Posting!
I was looking at the red on the ear of the top one and wondering if that means a female or if that is just what their ears look like at this age. I'm used to birds with feathers and don't get good close ups of ears, lol! I can see Merlin's ears the easiest of my 3
I'm not seeing color on the bottom chick but could my eyes getting old. I realized the other day that I might need my first pair of reading glasses.
Wait, wait, on the second pic I can definitely see those are red feather tips near the ears, she's a girlie!
And I see green ones over the cere on the other.

Cute BUTTS!!! Curious since you seem to be the Eclectus expert....Is it a myth that females do not make better pets than the males? Those females are so unique colored with their Red and Purple...But ofcourse I love the color Purple.....I want one..............................................
