Milton continued his talking mood today...we were sitting watching "The Price Is Right"...and this happened...

Milton: (turning to me) "I A DIRTY BIRD!"

Me: Oh, really?

Milton:"I A PRETTY PRETTY PRETTY DIRTY BIRD"....

Me: ...and how did you come to that conclusion, Bird?

Milton: 'WHATEVER"...

We continue to watch TPIR...someone wins a prize on stage...

Milton: (loudly, in my face) "WEEEEEEEEEEE...A WINNER"....

Me: I noticed that, Bird...

Milton:"OK"...

Milty sat with me for another 10 or so minutes, then began to fidget...I placed him back on his cage...and he pooped...

Me: Nice poop...

Milton: (looking down at the newspaper on the floor) "IT IS!"...

Milty had a shower earlier in the morning...maybe he thinks if he says he's dirty, he'll get another WET? Actually, he was mostly dry when he was sitting with me...and he smelled so sweet...just like a maple scent...really nice...

Yes, he can be...most of the time....and if he's going to be a snot, he'll give clear body language...and sometimes verbal warning signs that are easy to recognize...

He did say that a little while ago....it was easy not to let him do it, though...

You have to be careful in that situation...I obviously don't want Milty to bite, but I do want to encourage him to vocalize his feelings...so I use positive redirection by talking to him, and not letting him get to me physically.
Milty loves praise and attention, and it works better than food as a reward...or redirection...
