thank you all for your input!:hug8:
I really can't think about sending her away even for a stint. Merlie the dark room idea...I 'll retry it.....we'll drag one of her cages back in from the cottage. Vet also said give her zero seed and zero cooked mixes. Just boring pellets. Fresh raw she won't eat...

raise babies idea....can't entertain it atm

I dont think sending her away is a solution. She Could very well suffer from the same fate there. At least you are very in tune with her if she lives with you and can get her the proper medical attention.
It is out of your control Saroj.
Do your best, that is all you can do.

After these messages and you still think it is the best solution, i trust your judgement.

No Danita,
I was exploring an option put forth by my vet.
She stays right here and I'll continue :chin:

Saroj, have you looked into the superlorin implant. I have read quite a few reviews that say it works better than Lupron. The below clinical report has lots of info.

This is a post from a dog board:
I have a female cockatiel who was constantly laying clutches of eggs and she got a Suprelorin implant - so it is definitely used off label! It has worked wonderfully for my cockatiel with no side effects. Connie and Gypsy - Page 4 - Diabetes in Dogs: The k9diabetes.com Forum

I can't imagine how difficult this situation is for you. You take such excellent care of all of your fids and I'm really glad you decided not to send her away from your care - but I hope a solution will be forthcoming! :hug8:

Is there any way possible for her to be cage free? Evie is cage free and has laid 2 clutches in 2 years. I can tell when she is wanting to find a cozy spot to lay eggs in and I make sure not to have any cozy spots for her. She likes Peanut's cage and baskets so neither are accessible to her.

I have a lovie who is a chronic egg layer and I have entertained the thought to allow her to have a clutch. But then I thought, what if this doesn't work? What if she kept laying clutch after clutch and I had a housefull of lovies... :faint: So, I am starting the strict daylight/night hours. :shrug3:

How long has it been since she started laying chronically?

Bea has finally stopped, it took three years.

I was going to ask if you have tried opting to go with getting the implant.

A friend of mine went through the same thing with one of her female Cockatiels, nothing worked, nothing! She went with the implant and it has worked successfully, she hasn't laid eggs, nor prolapsed (another reason why she went with implant) again.

Good luck, hope you work something out!

Well my 2 cents is to get her a mate, let her choose if you can, and let them live with you and raise a clutch or two of littles. I would certainly not send her away to a breeding program.

Ginger
I agree.:hug8::hug8::hug8::hug8:
Good luck with whatever you decide is right for you.

Saroj, has your vet entertained the idea of a hysterectomy? If Emily is healthy and her uterus is not too large, your vet could perform a laser operation without much discomfort to her. It will not stop the hormones, but it will stop the chronic laying.
