Pictures Cocoa's spa day

I spoke to the shelter today and Cocoa had been there since August and had not been spritzed, sprayed or bathed in all that time (and they did not know before that). They also didn't know what food she was on and it was the shelter that gave her the seed mix (she only eats the sunflower seeds)

Her head is full of pin feathers and she just looked so scruffy that I tried spritzing her a bit to see how she would react. The pictures say it all (sorry they are not great quality)!

Afterwards, she didnt ruffle like my guys so I held out a small towel and she stepped into it for a pat dry. She let me open a bunch of pinnies and is now napping on her perch. Next weekend, we might try the shower.

You can see my boys watching from the background. They are very interested in this new giant.

Woohooo!!! That's awesome, I'm sooo glad she enjoys showers I'm sure they'll do her a world of good It sounds like you two are hitting it off too I know it's still the Honeymoon phase but the fact she let you help with her pin feathers is such a great sign

I was worried at first because she just stood there but then she spread her wings and started turning side to side. I ran out of water and had to get more because she obviously was not done! It took two spray bottles and a small flood before she was satisfied.

My Amazons love their baths too, it is really fun. They also are OK with the hairdryer as long as it is short bursts and not at their faces.

Amazons tend to love baths. I'm surprised she let you pat her dry. That would be too touchy feely for my amazons. Definitely get the orange veggies into her if she's been on seed for a while.

I was shocked at the pat dry too but she just stood there dripping and looking at me. She didn't ruffle or shake and it was half jokingly that I held up the towel and said "do I need to dry you too?" Apparently - the answer was yes. She keeps surprising me.
My GCCs would not allow that!

Cocoa really loved the spray shower. That's great that it worked out and now she is squeaky clean.

My zons would have eaten me alive if I tried to dry them off.

Cocoa enjoys something that is torture to our RLA (Bo) - water ! She is obviously bonding right from the start! Looks like you've got a real sweetheart on your hands!

P.S. Bo was only eating peanuts when we got him! It took us a while, but we slowly weaned him off those, and later, cut down on his beloved cashews.
