We have a very similar set up, with a front door that leads straight outside. Right now the birds are busy nesting, but usually what we do is message each other to let the people not home if the birds are out, or to ask if they are out before coming in. We also have a laundry that can be closed off from the house and exits to the back yard, so often we enter and exit through there as well.

I have heard of someone doing stretching exercises with a B&G and being able to get most movement back. It took a long time and many small increments, but they did it.

If your vet has access to a cold laser that has proven beneficial for injuries, that combined with range of motion exercises could really help
