Its about 74-75 in my living room and I kept him in a bedroom that was between 78-80 last night.

I just got a call from the vet. He said that he sent the xrays to WSU as well to be looked at by them. They told him that his liver looks abnormally small. So she was concerned about how small it was. All his blood work came back pretty clear though. Nothing wrong with him from the blood work standpoint on anything being to high or to low. He was pretty much close to perfect across the board. So the small liver is still doing its job it seems... Have to wait 3 more days now for the Toxic Metal determination. Doctor was pretty surprised at the results so far. Idk where to go from here. If its not metal toxicosis then what? To small of a liver to process everything? Might have to put him down? I sure hope not :(

Wait until you have all the facts. let the Avian Dr at WSU look at the slides/ x-rays/ bloodwork. And if need be, be prepare to take Shoppa to their clinic. If the vet you went to is not avian, then sometimes finding a good Avian vet is the best thing you can do.

That is directly from the specialist at WSU. My vet was relaying the message.

Thank you. I know that if it is metal Toxicosis then I will have to take him to WSU for sure. But if its due to a shrinking liver idk what we will have to do. Hopefully I get some sort of good news.

So, has the bloodwork ruled out a calcium problem? greys are prone to that.

I know when I first got my amazons I read up on the forums about an African Grey . . . . .it was a really interesting read about a lady that battled with some medical issues with her bird. I honestly don't know how to search for that thread but I'll see if I can find it for you.

Well after a long long LONG day at work today of leaving him at home and not knowing how he was doing I finally got home 30 minutes ago. I get home and he did a few whistles, told me he wanted to go to bed, (he says Shoppa Bird Go To Bed) and ate and drank some water. He seemed much more awake then he had been the last 4 days. I ate dinner and while I was eating he was watching me.

I put him in his bird be shortly after. Our usual ritual is he gets put in the carrier travel type cage and climbs to the top and hangs upside down. He makes noises then I rub his head. Well for the last 4 days hes been way to out of it to do that. Way to weak. Well he did that tonight. Granted his noises sound a bit different but he climbed and hung upside down, did his noises and wanted me to scratch his head. I couldnt get him to stop lol. He kept wanting it. The last 4 days he had been hangin out on the bottom of the bird bed cage and just putting his head straight down for me to scratch. It was so sad. Made me cry every night.

IDK what had made him have a bit more energy tonight and be a bit "better" looking. Maybe he had all day to sleep since I wasnt home. Maybe he is faking it like birds do. Deep down I know its probably not possible but I sure hope or wish its him getting better. Heres to another night. Hope he gets through! Thanks for listening to me everyone. It does help and it helps when you all post positive thoughts as well.

I found the thread! It made an impact on me - I read it quite some time ago. If nothing else, maybe you will find a nugget of wisdom in the thread somewhere.

Gemini's Story-a VERY Special Congo African Grey:) | Avian Avenue Parrot Forum

Thank You Clueless :hug8:I'm Gemini's Mom,she is still with Us at the age of 24 and VERY Healthy :D.The problem with blood tests for calcium levels,is that A Grey can have plenty of calcium in their system-BUT without proper full spectrum lighting-they can not process the calcium in their system:( SO a grey can also suffer from too much calcium-if proper lighting is not offered.

Thank you! I read your whole story with Gemini. Very cool and inspiring. It put a smile on my face last night. First smile I had in 4 days. I wanted to tell you that I DO have one of those exact bulbs hanging on one side of his cage. Not sure if I should put another one on since his cage is pretty big and when he sits on the other side of the cage hes probably not getting many of those rays. But he does sit under this light for a bit of the day. Thanks for the tip!

I woke him up this morning and hes not doing to good. Trying to vocalize and it comes out all weird. Took one bite of food and fell asleep. Hes still only had the one seizure on Sunday so im thankful for that.

I appreciate it. Thank you. Hes only been on the light since the 18th of October. Has also only been on the Harrisons Pellets since the 18th. So maybe things get worse before they get better? Idk, the vet keeps pointing towards metal Toxicosis but I just dont believe that to be true. I guess we will see.

I have noticed since Sunday his stomach is making loud bubbling noises. Kinda like when a human is gassy or hungry. I can literally hear it while watching Tv.
