I try to pull all the Finch eggs right now cause we are over run with them. And honestly other then how to care for them I know nothing about colors.

I let a couple eggs slip by me. (We remove them cause they have them faster then they sell.)

Anyways I check each nest weekly and all seemed normal. The new feathers where white no surprise we have four or five white birds in the flight cage.

Well today I checked them and they are completely feathered out just not fledged yet.
They are white but their heads are brown. They look just alike so that in my mind rules out pied.

I know the mother is a fawn one of the larger finches we have. But did not really pay attention so no idea on the father.

Anyone seen anything like this?

I well have pictures tomorrow plan to take my camera to work with me.

She has been breading finches for over 10 years.

We have zebras, whites, fawns and a few black checks in the flight cage.

No don't sell the eggs just take them out so we don't get over crowded with finches.
So do you have any idea if this is a new mutation? Or a variant of one already seen?
The are both white with brown heads.

Nope solid white with brown head. The brown stops at the neck does not go down to the sholders.
I well have pictures tomorrow.

Not as white as I though they were. Just took the one out. The other one is still in the nest and look just like this one.

Have you seen this site? The guy has a book on Zebra Finch mutations and his e-mail is on the site, maybe he will be able to answer you if you e-mail him. Your birds are really cute, hope you can find some answers.

Thank you Drop. I now know what they are. Here is the reply I got.

"they are chestnut flanked white Zebras also known as CFW. The black
on the head will disappear as they get older. the bird if female
will be pretty much all white with a black tear drop mark, if male it
will be white with very dilute male markings, cheek patches flanking
and breast bar."

Whatever they are, they are cute as bugs. I had 5 babies in the spring and had some pied. I like all the variations, but your are special. Very pretty.
