Why does my cockatiel do this?

My female cockatiel does this sometimes, stays with her wings up. Does that mean she's a he actually? Why does she do that?

It could be a couple things that I can think of. Often my tiels will do it to show off- get your attention. Like, look what a pretty bird I am. Also, sometimes if they're scared of something, they'll do "big wings" to scare what ever it is away.
