Well, it is fall time, the hardwoods have lost their leaves...color of the water throws me...looks like sandbars across the water....now I've never been NORTH of Ste. Louis to see the Mississippi River and understand it is much "cleaner" up in the head waters states...

I was amazed at the water color. I was so used to seeing the dirty Mississippi. Nope, not the Mississippi.

It's not that far from me. It was a Boy Scout trip so we didn't go too far, but it took at least half of the if not all day (at least 6 hours) to get down there by bus.

This mound, if I'm correct, was built by Native Americans, but that was not the event in American history that our trip focused on.

So for flat land like that that far from you down in the Bootheel or Ark area along the flats of the Mississippi River
