What illness did my budgie have?

On Sunday my budgie wasn't really looking good, he was sleeping the entire time, with his feathers puffed up. Once, when I checked on him, he was laying on the floor, but making no effort to climb up. We planned to take him to the vet on Monday. But the next morning, when I checked to see how he was doing, he was dead. He wasn't old, only about two years old. Is there any of you who might recognize the illness? I'm sorry I couldn't give more information.

These symptoms are typical signs of a dying bird. No-one would be able to tell you what the illness was except a vet after necropsy.

Birds hide illness well, and many illnesses present with the same symptoms. So once they are looking poorly, they are often quite sick. The causes are so varied that it would be a complete guess. I am very sorry for your loss!
