What color will my red factor be without color feeding?

Just got a 9-month-old peach/orange red factor canary for Christmas. I quite like his color as it is, so I'm wondering what color his feathers would naturally be without any color feeding. Would he be yellow?

Also, has anyone had success training their canary to fly to their hand?

I have an orange factor and he gets very pale (yellowish) when I don't give him the red factor food. He keeps his gorgeous color as long as he is on it!

i'm not sure sorry... you could try using treats for training your canary to fly to your hand.

If I were to withhold color food from my red factor canary for the next year, he would change to an all white color with traces of peach/orange on his head and rump. There are no yellow tones, but that would depend on the canary's genetic makeup. Flame is not hand tame, and stays in his flight cage.

From Lafeber's site:

"You can find specially formulated color-food, or you can try your hand at creating a natural color-diet on your own: carrots, paprika, cherries, cayenne pepper, beets, yams, and any other orange and red natural food will help to change your bird’s color. This natural way of color-feeding is purportedly better for the canary’s overall health. Color-feeding should begin around molting time, when the canary is producing new feathers – the color will not appear in feathers that are already on the bird’s body."
