Opie flew from his cage while out this evening. As usual, it was because he was startled. He didn’t like the sound of the coffee grinder I use exclusively for pellets.

I had my back turned when it happened (also as usual it would seem). And this is where I found him.

I find Ripley in weird places too because he only flies when spooked. Found him sitting on the dirty dishes in the sink once

He's utterly offended and is staring at his cage in the picture...wondering how he'll get back there.

I offered him the rope perch to rescue him and plopped him back on top of his cage

I have no idea how he managed to stick that landing but hopefully I'll have time to work with him between some nice heavy-duty perches this year!

Ha ha - he's no dummy, he saw the counter was a bit too crowded for him, so voila - brick!


Fergus did the same the other day when I was sweeping under their cage with a broom - like they've never seen a broom in their 5 plus year old lives? What the???
I never did find his hiding place, but he came through the kitchen and flew back to his cage in a fairly short time! Yaaaay!

Opie usually does seem quite amazed at where he ends up, lol! He once landed on the window sill above the kitchen sink, and he was truly shocked!
