Welcome Barry!

This week Barry joined my flock. He is a 15 year old Blue Crowned Conure.
He had only been at The Gabriel Foundation a few months and had all his bloodwork and quarantine and they were enjoying teaching him tricks.
When I saw him on their list of adoptables I knew I had to call.
I had a BCC before and some may remember him. Will was posted on AA as an "unadoptable" at Anna Sloane's rescue in NM because he was very old and didn't want to wear "pants". Anna drove north and I drove south and we met in the middle because I couldn't be away overnight because of my other birds. He was with me 8 years and I was so impressed by how smart he was and just a good bird that after he passed in 2018 at around 44 years old I said I wanted another BCC someday.
Well, Someday is here!

I was! But I was also looking at Mango, the precious little guy with the hurt foot (GCC). But then a rescue closer to me texted me about a new guy who I’m picking up in a couple hours!
I definitely think you should get Mr B too!

Yes I met Mango too. A very calm and sweet little one who loves to cuddle with one of the staff members. Mango's cage is by her desk and Mango gets lots of attention.
I think the little one you are adopting looks like a doll in the photo you posted, such beautiful color! Congrats to you too!

So handsome! Congrats!! I've been recently reading about the Gabriel Foundation, and Wow! What an incredible facility.

My SIL had a Blue Crowned Conure, and he was an amazing bird. Lived out his entire 35 years with her.

I used to volunteer there about 15 years ago, but with all the population growth and building on the drive between them and me, the trip is now 90 minutes each way.
But it is a big place and kept really clean and nice. I've always been amazed at the outdoor flights and how the birds zoom outdoors from their cages when the doors are opened (weather permitting).
