We did it today!! Got a bird!!

Well, we didn't bring him home, but we picked him and put money on him. He will be weaned and ready in about 2 weeks. We did bring home the cage today. WOW, it looks big enough for a monkey! I hope he'll be happy. He is a cinnamon. We have actually played with him before. Last week when we were there playing with the babies I felt like he was the most hand tame and most interested in people. Today he was the one always wanting out of the cage and onto our arms. My son carried him all around and even sat on a couch holding him while I paid and took care of the business end. I'm excited and nervous. We've never owned a bird before. I call it a "him" but of course we don't really know. The breeder thinks it's likely a male because of some of the whistling noises it already makes. Sometime when I learn how I'll post pictures. Until then I'll be anxiously trying to prepare to bring our new feathered family member home. No official name yet... we are working on it.

We are so excited. Still can't decide on a name. The cage is SO HUGE... I'm sure it won't seem that way once it's all filled with toys. I am really looking forward to getting to know our little guy. My son really loves the idea of bathing the bird, so here's hoping he likes water, lol.

We got him from a store that only deals in birds and bird supplies. Some of the birds they get at a couple weeks old from breeders and then hand feed and tame and some they breed themselves. It's a family owned store. This particular batch was raised at home with the owner and he was telling me all about hanging out on the couch watching TV with these babies, including our cinnamon. I'm pretty excited that he's already had 'family home life' before coming to our house. I know we'll be visiting him a couple of times a week until he is able to come home.
