Some of you may have followed my Mastiff Tahlia’s story about 2 weeks ago, regarding her cancer and us having to make that final decision for her. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do but I know she’s in a better place now.
Once I was at peace with it and ready, I knew I was going to look into adopting again.
Cue this past weekend, I happened across a rescue who goes up to Georgia & takes pregnant mamas and gives them a safe place to have their puppies. Afterwards they find perfect homes for all of them. They do amazing work, truly.
One mama who caught my eye was a really sweet 10 month lab/border collie mix named Dixie, but she had a home set up already. She had been surrendered to a shelter because her last home had “too many dogs.”
So I went ahead and put in an application to potentially give one of her litter a home.
They received quite a few applications and four out of the six had their adopters already chosen, but after talking to the rescue at length about our home, it was decided one individual would make a great fit for us and I was approved to take the last boy home.
So, everyone meet Casper! We picked him up this afternoon. He’s a mixed boy with about 7-8 breeds in there but the primary breed is Labrador retriever.
The rescue did a DNA test which threw some interesting things like rottweiler, jindo and even corgi!
Already about 12.5 pounds at 8 weeks. I can’t say enough good about him, he’s a joyful guy who’s very sweet and laid-back.
