Wanting a Mousebird

Hi guys!
I am from South Africa, here where we have mousebirds in abundance.
2 years ago I picked up a baby mousebird in the middle of a storm. I took him home, hand-reared him and completely fell in love with him. However, I was still in high school and living with my parents then. They eventually persuaded me to take Snickers, my bird, to a wildlife rehabilitation place.
Now I have my own place and I desperately want a new bird. Since mousebirds are in abundance here I can't find any breeders, and I feel a bit uncomfortable with just plucking a baby out of a nest. Does anyone here maybe have any advice as to where I could find one?

:hello: It may be illegal for regular citizens to own local wildlife as a pet. That is the way it is here. Check with local rehabilitation center.

Is there a pet version of the bluebird in your area?

It looks like they are illegal, unless you have a permit. :(

Srtiels has said they make wonderful pets and have laid back personalities like cockatiels do.
They are amazing pets! I nursed a few pigeons before the mousebird and they didn't have even nearly the same amount of personality. They are beautiful little birds who gets really tame and who loves to interact and cuddle

Welcome, I've heard that Mouse Birds are wonderful pet's. I read somewhere that they have the personality of parrots, without the bites , we endure from our parrots.
