So I’ve had my new little one for exactly two weeks today. Gotcha day was January 25th.
I got the little one from Birds of a Feather Rescue.
I was told he/she is 6 years old at least, lived its whole life in a coffee shop in Taos, New Mexico, and when the shop recently closed, the owners didn’t want the angel baby anymore and passed it along to a regular customer who then only had it for a short time before changing her mind and bringing the little one to the rescue where I was the lucky new - forever - home!
The DNA test results will arrive hopefully before the next couple weeks.
What do you think? Boy or girl??
Here’s what I know:
Probably a Dilute Pineapple mutation
Pretty passive/relaxed around people.
Loves head scritches
Lets me get ALL the pin feathers
Knows nothing about “stepping up,” but is a keen learner!
Has a completely different voice than Duckie, sounds like someone arming an alarm keypad - *beep beep beep beep* And when calling out sounds like there are multiple scratchy, super loud bird voices coming out of the one little body! Seriously way more intense than Duckie and now Duckie is copying it. Yay!
Seems to know English *sounds* Haven’t heard an English word yet, but there’s for sure some syllables and cadences reminiscent of English.
Doesn’t head bob - at all so far.
Doesn’t seem interested in toysso far.
Brave eater! Tries everything even if doesn’t end up eating them.
Rounder head than Duckie
Weighs 67 ounces
Seems unfamiliar with bathing - but super excited to learn more!
Always wants to be on the shoulder, but once up there, not relaxed, hangs on for dear life!
So far, not much of a biter!
Obsessed with grooming my partner’s hair & beard.
