No x-ray was recommended but then that could be a follow-up. No swabs were performed on him. No feces checks were done. Actually his droppings continue to look somewhat normal though diminished. I plan to call the avian vet soon this morning.

Leave him with the vet if you need to. They can give sub q fluids and gavage feed/medicate until he is eating on his own again.

Well, my little precious Rio died this morning. He was with Dr. Nelson...incubated and undergoing some treatment process. He died right away. This is what the vet wrote for me: "On necropsy, Rio's liver was approximately 30-50% larger than expected with rounding of the edges. This finding implies inflammation of the liver more commonly seen with certain viruses that can affect birds. Examples of such virus that can do this are polyoma and Pacheco's disease. Chalmdydiosis can cause this but typically the spleen is also enlarged. Mycobacteriosis typically show a mottling or spotting from micro abcesses. This was not observed. No other organs or evidence of gross disease was observed on any of the tissues."
He also said it was unpredictable and even a wellness check the week before would not have shown a thing wrong with him.

I am so sorry for your loss with him. 
I hope that you can find peace in your heart knowing at times there is just nothing we can do with our pets who seem perfectly healthy one day and off the next. I still feel the loss of my dog in Dec it just never leaves me. You did what you could seeking medical attention and I feel ya on this it just sucks.
He is flying free now, sorry for your loss.
