I imagine like most things it is about concentration. F10 is only safe when properly diluted per the directions listed. It is also a veterinary grade disinfectant, which is why it is purposely "overkill". It is also why I do not use it every cleaning. It is invaluable for cleaning after an illness, or cleaning a used cage, etc, but I would never use it for everyday cleaning.

Yes, very dilute usage. But it is really good stuff. I use it for all my cleaning. I cannot stand the smell of vinegar and I have a few that can get yeast on a yearly basis. Currently spraying Giggie for yeast on her skin.

Seeing as how vets prescribe it as something that can be nebulized with good results, I feel safe using it on the cage.

I use it once a month, but it's really diluted, like 4 mL to 1 liter hot water.

Many use f-10 and. Believe. It’s bird safe however it has dimethyl ammonium chloride (quats) and ever where I look online. Show this to bee dangerous the epa classifies it as a. Pesticide how is it bird safe ? He’s a. Article Disinfectant Overkill: What are “Quats” and why are they a problem?
Totally agree...
Here's a better alternative

Hypochlorous acid is found naturally in white blood cells of mammals, including the human body.[3] It is non-toxic and has been used as a safe wound care solution for many years.[4]

When dissolved in water, hypochlorous acid water has been found to have strong disinfection properties. Given this and its non-toxicity, it has been identified as a useful cleaning agent and sanitizer.[5] It has been identified by the US Environmental Protection Agency as a disinfectant effective against COVID-19,[6] backed by clinical studies.

Because of its ability to penetrate pathogens' membranes, it is also used as a commercial deodorizer.

Sounds interesting but how do we source a safe hypochlorous acid & dilute it for skin care?

I trust this med review site & they seem to say good things about it to.

It's light sensitive so I suppose mixed formula should not be stored long.

I use this brand/formulation it has a six month shelf life. One gallon premixed.

It's a wound cleaner and eye wash too! Used in food preparation and cleaning produce.
I keep spray bottles for general purposes. Storage in a cool dark place.
It also comes in its dry powder/tablet formulation and mixed with water when needed
Many solutions are photo sensitive.
Best to kept out of direct sunlight.
