So we picked up a very nice A and E flight cage today from a neighbor to my parents. It has been sitting outside for at least 6 months and today, they were having a yard sale and the cage was less than $40.00. We are not sure what was in it or what happened to it. (The kids manning the sale did not know what the birds were and it was "a long time ago".) We plan on doing a deep clean with some vinegar and let it sit outside at my parents for a week or two before bringing it home. (I could do bleach but I am so very allergic to it that I prefer not to unless necessary. I am trying to get some f10 but so far not much luck there. anything else we should do/ not do? We do plan on trashing all the perches, cups and toys that came with it. There was no rust anywhere on the cage despite the six months it has been sitting in the front yard.

In the absence of F-10, you could use bleach, but not anywhere near a bird. I would do it outside, rinse it down thoroughly, and then wait a day to bring it in.

The Amazon seller told me it has something to do with labeling.
That's interesting. I'm also in PA and could have sworn that I was able to get it shipped at one point, but I haven't been able to in ages. I wondered what was up.

I ran into some vendors that wouldn't ship to Alabama too, but ended up ordering some f10 from Kwikpets or something of that nature, so when it arrives, we will spray it down, then bring it home then spray it down again and let it sit in the sun for two days and then new cage for living room time for the conure. BTW it is basically this cage. A&E Cage Company Flight Bird Cage

Maybe some day..... after all, nature hates a void and I have found empty spaces eventually fill up..... Hoping for the future!!!!
