- If a feather is plucked vs falls out because it's ready to, the stem would not look hollow, correct?

This looks like a molted feather :)

Feathers will be hollow as soon as they are done growing. Plucked feathers will have a bit of skin or blood at the tip, look crunched, or snipped.

Feathers will be hollow as soon as they are done growing. Plucked feathers will have a bit of skin or blood at the tip, look crunched, or snipped.
That's good to know. Molting is such a weird process to me. She exploded in tiny feathers but now all her big feather are coming out and it's throwing me for a loop.
