Hey!
Okay so I have 3 birds a kakariki boy and two tiels one of my tiels is new and still settling in the other a rescue from a poor background who I'm still building trust with.
I want to start target training with my kakariki, as he's the most confident with me. He's a stage 5 clinger and uses me as his own personal jungle gym but I'd like to bond with him further. I think he'd be good with target training however I'm struggling to work out what treats to use. He loves ALL food, quite literally but I cannot work out what to use for target training as even though he eats everything he's not extremely food orientated. (For example my rescue tiel Mouse would sell my soul for a single piece of millet).
So I guess I'm wondering what treats I can try for target training what would be the best to use with my kak?

You need something fast to eat like a safflower seed or a small piece of millet

does he like safflower seeds

how about a piece of almond, pistachio, walnut or similar?
Some birds that aren't too into food will work for a drama reward, which is quick and easy to give. I had one of those!
Or since yours is a clinger, perhaps a cuddle, scratch or "big kiss". Those might take slightly longer.
Also remember that at first you want to reward every time but when it is learned well, you can decrease the frequency of rewards.
