A little background on both birds first.
Daisy is a Quaker and Boobird is a linnie. I took Daisy in as a rescue as he was biting the children of the women who own him (Daisy is a boy). I Bought Boobird as a baby because I always like linnies so got him right after he was weaned. At the time I also had two other Quakers.
Boobird and Daisy from the start really like each other. Daisy is my biggest Quaker by a lot and he just loved having Boobird follow him around. If any of the other birds picked on Boobird, Daisy jumped right in to protect him.
He taught him how to talk, and since I could not keep Boobird out of Daisy's cage I just let him move in, so Boobird thinks he is a small Quaker.
My flock grew, Macaws, grays, more Quakers, Amazon. No matter Daisy looked after Boobird so he would not get picked on by other birds.
In December of 2009 I was asked to foster a severe macaw, I agreed. He was a nice little guy but was a jealous bird. So I only let him out when the other guys were locked up. Well he grabbed one of my Quakers. I thought I had accidently left the door open. Captain lived but lost an eye to the severe macaw. So now i was really watching and double checking doors. So come January I'm cutting up food and the severe is out and nobody else is. and I hear a noise behind me. The macaw had opened the lock and was attacking poor Daisy! He tried to rip his head off! I got them separated and tried to make Daisy as comfortable as possible, He was missing an eye and was breathing badly and was not moving his feet or wings. The vets said bring him in if he made it through the night. He made it,
I kept Daisy on the loveseat for 6 weeks. He could not eat by himself so I fed him with an eye dropper. It was very touch and go for awhile, but through this whole ordeal there was Boobird. I could not separate them. Boobird sat by Daisy everyday all day and tried to feed him, at night Boobird would not go in their cage, he had to be by Daisy or he screamed nonstop.
It has now been a year since the accident; Daisy is blind in one eye and partly paralyzed. He no longer can talk, but through all this Boobird has kept him happy and still tries to feed Daisy and they still snuggle at night.
These are my special little guys!
