...and my hunch was right.

The baby is a male, which means I'll wait for the next clutch in hopes that there is a female there.

I do hope the little guy will find a great family though. If anyone knows of great people in Ontario looking for a baby male Red-bellied, PM me :)

I'm still amazed that all three babies were males.

Don't think I've ever heard of a clutch of more than two baby birds that were all the same gender before. Ah genetics..never know what you will get ;)

we got some fertile chicken eggs when the boys were little for our hens to hatch - 13 eggs hatched, all 13 were roosters!

Wow...you would think that the odds of getting at least one hen would have been on your side..;)

Anyways, I didn't think it impossible to have an entire clutch of the same gender babies, I just don't recall ever witnessing it before.

A little disappointed, yes, but it was just not meant to be now I guess :)

I hope this doesn't happen with this pair of RB...I think I'd go crazy with the anticipation each time the babies hatch ;)

Exactly. I've been waiting for this for quite some time. A little bit longer won't be too bad. Apparently, the pair seems to be wanting to mate again. The breeder won't force them but if they do want to have another go, she'll give them the nest again.
