I never knew they had that much facial hair! lol
I don't know... I'm sure if you got caught you would get thrown on right quick! It also looked like he was doing some sign language. He might of been donated from a learning facility or lab...Oh boy, I am guessing he gets treats on occasion from spectators. <YIKES>
Smart guy.
Oh yes.... It made me nervous with just a ditch between us! I'm sure if he got angry enough he could find away across, just like that tiger in CA last year. That chimp should have been donated years ago to a facility that could properly take care of him. I get angry every time I think about it.That could very well be.
That case where the ladies face and hand was ripped off, is enough for me to be very watchful of these guys. Lots-o-respect.
I took this today at the Miami Zoo... There were 2, I couldn't get a picture of the second one due to all the foliage... I was surprised these pictures came out as good as they did through the mesh and all the foliage.Where is this taken? There aren't too many in captivity.

They are gorgeous birds, that is for sure! I also wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of their talons which are about the size of grizzly bear clawsThe Harpy is the heaviest and often cited as the most powerful eagle in the world. For many years it was my favorite bird...
Yes, I can post tons of Harpy Eagle pics I amassed over the years depicting every part of the bird's body in detail. The claws on this bird have no equal. They're even larger than the talons of the Philippine Eagle in my avatar, despite the PE being slightly larger. Harpies are not to be messed with. They are huge but also possess a temperament to match. The only eagle I can think off hand that is more aggressive is the African Crowned, but they're substantially smaller. Forest eagles of the world rule. They are gorgeous birds, that is for sure! I also wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of their talons which are about the size of grizzly bear claws!
