across the hall from me.
He is so cute, they rescued him and really didn't know how to take care of him.
In a cage with NO toys :(

So anyway......;)
I showed them my bird room and what I do for Bea and Newman.
:omg: they didn't realize what their grey needed!!!
So now he is foraging, eating nuts, Harrisons and get this today.....

They were in the hall doing FLY Practice like Newman!!!!!
He got about 5 feet and is landing so well. I am so proud of them
:starshower:

Things like that just make my day :dancing:

That's so great. Sometimes people don't care, will do what they want, aren't interested, and other times they genuinely do not know. Sure, it may be there responsibility to find out but sometimes offering suggestions is good because some people will listen. Good for you.

Danita I am sooo happy for all of you, I know you wanted to change that birds life for the better ~ sounds like they are finally doing the positive things with thier Grey.

Gosh I would love to safely allow Solo to fly down some long hallways......that would be an incredible experience for the both of us!

awesome. :D

I wish my neighbors owned birds. The lady who used to live across the hall had lovies but she was never friendly.

Its like a secret society :)

Danita sounds like you were a Godsend to the grey and to the people who rescued it. Good for you! They must be true "bird people" if they have taken that much of a proactive role. Think of how much fun they all are going to have!

Oh no secret Macaws here :laughin:
She took over the laundry room last night and scared everyone away :laughin:
People won't even get on the elevator now with her in there, she spreads those wings out like she is a Monster from a horror flick.

Most people do love their birds and when they know what is right they do try and change.:dance4:

That's so funny about Kiwi lol. I am amazed at how many people we know that will not even get near Einstein! My tiel is absolutely vicious and they all go right for him lol, but won't even touch Einstein. When Einstein gets those wings a flappin though even the dogs run!

Even in this economy, the number of new bird owners continues to go up exponentially.

The bad news is that 1 in 3 bird owners still think keeping birds is the same as keeping fish. You don't take the fish out of the aquarium for quality time, do ya? Nor do you buy lots of toys for your fish or cook them special meals.

I don't think people mean to be "bad" bird owners. I think many are like me. For decades, I didn't know any better.

That is why this site is so important. We provide knowledge.

But I know from my own ignorance. You don't know what it is that you don't know. Therefore, many won't come and seek out answers.

That is why what Danita did is so important. She told two people, who will tell two people, etc.. We can kill ignorance, one person at a time.

:dance5:Way to go, Danita :dance5:

Oh forgive me Jaye, and maybe I shouldn't post this, but I love the last sentence in your post, but the first thing that popped into my mind was "but its still illegal to kill teenagers." I know on so many levels that is not even funny or a joking matter, but take it as a random thought in my head not meant to be serious and it gave me a little chuckle.

I have THREE teenagers. That quote goes through MY mind many times a day!

Is it good or bad to find that there are others that think like me?
