So I kind of maybe 'impulse' bought some springtails (200).
They were on special :banghead:.

But now i'm slowly realising I dont know an awful lot. I've got the basics, food, enclosure, temp, humidity, etc, but any care tips would be appreciated. I'm looking to breed them, and my main goal here is health. I'll be adding a handful into my hermit crab tanks, and other enclosures down the line.
Also, for the heat, I assume just a UTH heater stuck to the side works, seeing as this is how a hermit crab tank would be.
My current setup looks like this:
Large plastic tub (its huge, i want to add isopods soon), 6inches of coco-peat, mixed with sphagnum moss and leaf litter, a piece of corkbark in the centre, and a spider plant. I've been told online to practically submerge the substrate with distilled water, to encourage bacteria blooms.
Any tips are appreciated!

I don't know, but I think the springtails are pretty easy to care for.
Love to see a picture of the little critters
Yeah i've heard that. I think i'll switch to a charcoal sub, as apparently coco-peat can get mites easily.
They're being sent out soon to me :)

I've also heard they easy to care for. One of my favorite pettubers is Serpadesign. He uses springtails all the times. Here's a video on just springtails he made

It's a pretty basic video and sounds like you're already doing most of it.

Aren't you nervous about all those springtails getting on your birds and all their toys and perches! Right now I'm battling springtails in my house!!; They came in during this last storm and now I'm trying to get rid of them. I'm super nervous about them getting on my birds and all over their stuff and quite frankly all over me and my furniture! I've actually been trying to find a way to get rid of them in case they are on their perches

Are you sure they're springtails? Spring's feed on bacteria and mould, and live in damp environments.
I've got mine in a culture, so i'm actually purposely breeding them :), also have some in the pot plants around the house, haven't had issues with them moving to my bird's area.

They're little white hexapods which clean up bacterias like old food or mould! They jump/spring up when frightened.

They're a great little cleanup crew for tank pets, bioactive terrariums, etc etc :)
