Ahhhh they are so adorable! My only wonder, though, is why there are so many male quails chilling out together with no females in sight lol. I love quails. It's awesome you have them in your backyard.

I count (I think) 7 females in the top pic. There is one female in the 4th pic. There is a female in the 6th pic. Red cap and black face = male. No red cap and no black face = female.

Great pictures. I have seen these quail in Arizona. Now I have to go back and check if they were male or female. I did not know you could tell them apart.

they are so gorgeous! we saw some turkeys on the outskirts of town last weekend, and there's a big flock near my in-laws' house.
