I think we are mixing masked Lovebirds up with green cheek conures.

Your picture misled me. And I have never heard of a black cheeked lovebird. I did have a rare purple green cheek conure for a while. Thanks to her using her chili covered cuttle bone as a towel after her bath.Oh I have a masked lovebird too
Black cheeked lovebirds are pretty uncommon in the pet world. Harder to breed and more skittish than other lovebirds.
Well they're usually referred to as masked lovebirds, so maybe that threw you. It's like Jenday conures and sun conures, I have trouble telling the difference.
Masked and black cheeked are different species.
Black cheeked are Agapornis nigrigenis
Masked lovebirds are Agapornis personatus
Black cheeked are Agapornis nigrigenis

Yea, I posted in the conversation about this this morning. It´s so easy to be confused by common names, so I prefer to use scientific. There was a member recently who thought Rosy faced and Peach faced were different species, maybe they got confused with the red faced lovebird.

In the Netherlands we only use the scientific names. Easy for us!
I've been doing it too, and I figured Brian knows what he's talking about but we are opposite sides of the country so I thought maybe we had different colloquial names.
