SO excited

i adopted marilyn at the end of october she is 22 now and had never had any toys. so for the last few months i have had her i have tried a much of toys and tried to get her to play. while playing with my caique today with a small foot toy, marilyn got so excited so i put it on her cage and alas she PLAYED!!

thanks! i will have to buy some more kinds of foot toys. i was shocked she just picked it up and played with it. esp. since she never uses her feet to eat or touch things. she also took the ball out of my hand. which is exciting as she is very phobic of anything other then a head rub!

It's weird, my YNA prefers to play with things that are NOT hanging! I try to make playing with a ball a game. I place and roll the ball towards my zon and she pushes or throws if off her cage.

Jasper's the same way- his hanging toys last forever, he mostly ignores them. Foot toys are a whole different matter though, he loves them to death very quickly! In fact, he'd probably be okay with JUST foot toys if a choice had to be made for one or the other.

she is a red lored. from the info i got when i adopted her she was wild caught back in the 80's and then was in someone's house for 21 years in a cage with no toys and no interaction.

RLA. A quick way to tell the difference is the lack of yellow in the cheek area for the LCA. Also, the eye-ring color. In the RLA it's usually white and in the LCA it's a lavender color.
