Pictures So, About Quarter

I wasn’t planning to introduce yet, but...
Quarter came to live with me on the 7th of December 2021, Quarter is a Galah (Rose-breasted Cockatoo for you non-aussies)
He is also not DNA, I just call him a he.

He also goes by Quarter Galah, Galah, Quart, Pink Bird, Q, and Q Bird
And because someone will likely mention/notice it, yes Q has a bad wing (left wing)
One of my first pictures of him (has a filter on it so you can actually see him)

Quarter lives in a small outdoor aviary (he will be getting more space soon) it’s far from pretty or perfect, but there was no way I was putting him in a cage.

Two toys at once, anyone?






These last two were taken today, when Quart started allowing his first ever scritches which by the afternoon had led to shoving his head into my hand.

Are his eyes really brown or somewhat pink/red. If really brown most likely male.

Take a real good close look at the eye in the sun. You can usually tell the males and females apart by eye colour as already mentioned by Zoo mom.

Quarter came to me the date I put above and I am quite certain he is a baby, I have no way of knowing exact age. I am trying to go off plumage change, in some of the pics it looks like he’s changing now, but I don’t think he is (those pink patches were kinda bare when I got him possibly from whatever happen to his wing)

Up till he was coming close to me I could never see his eyes well enough, they are a dark brown. But I have read eyes aren’t always accurate.

The aviary was a spare chook pen I moved and cleaned for him, there’s still much that needs to be done to it, but it’s a good start (and better then any cage imo)

It’s all good, every time he took a step in the right direction (first toy, first veggie, first pets!) I was so eager to share, but I was also still trying to understand I unexpectedly have a ‘too!
