So my lovebirds had clipped wings when I got them. For the past couple months, one of them has been breaking every blood feather that comes in. I think she has broken 6. There isn’t usually much blood but the two most recent breaks have had more blood. She has had quite a bit of dried blood under her wing because of this. She has been picking at the blood and I am noticing that there isn’t much fluff left under there anymore. She is a very happy bird and the over preening is only in the spot with blood, so I am confident that it has nothing to do with stress. Will there be any long term consequences if I just wait it out? I don’t want to take her to a vet if the overpreening will stop once she stops breaking blood feathers.
