Hello. I posted in another place about my cockatiel laying eggs. She has now laid 5 eggs total and is sitting on them on the bottom of the cage. Tonight she is breathing very heavily and her feathers are ruffled. I just read online that those can be signs of egg binding. But I don't know what a bird acts like when it is laying an egg, since she always does it at night when she is covered. I can't tell if there is any swelling, etc because she is sitting on her eggs. I don't know if I should upset her by trying to look or not.
Should I be concerned about egg binding or are these symptoms of simply laying another egg?
Thank you!
PS - I don't know if I should post this in the 911 section or if it's not considered an emergency. If anyone thinks I should put it there, please let me know!!!
