Safe wood?

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong area, my ? falls under toys (shredders) and health... couldn't decide where to post.
My budgies are tearing up all the wood perches in their cage (grr, don't they understand those cost $$ ) So, I want to go get some branches from trees that I KNOW are not treated.

I know apple is ok - is pear or apricot ok too? They are from the same family so I'm thinking yes, but don't want to assume...

Any other ideas? Are Lilacs ok? I know maple aren't. Anybody know about Canadian Choke Cherry trees?

I saw on the one link about washing/rinsing and putting them in the oven before giving it to the fids... is it ok for them to chew on the bark of the cottonwood, lilac, and willow branches? I wanted to give branches to the budgies to chew up because they are destroying their perches

My birds get the entire lilac branch- bark and all - have for 2 years - nothing has happened to them

Directions for making them bird safe!
Scrub wood down with a 50% water/Vinegar mixture
Allow to air dry inside for 24 hours.

I don't see Teak on any list. I have a bunch of Teak discs that would make good chew toys. Wiki says this: "It is very resistant to termite attacks." That leads me to believe it would be toxic, in view of Redwood and other unsafe species. Chewbaca is a termite on steroids.

Well Teak is actually toxic, even the dust is toxic to humans if its covered with resin or something it may be safe.
