Sad for me, best for her

Caiques are my DREAM birds... I totally love them.

I'm currently fostering one and she is a total sweetheart. A good eater of a wide variety of foods... as sweet as can be and loves to be with people AND play independently.

With that said our family has had some unexpected (and expensive) events happen and while it breaks my heart, we won't be able to afford her adoption fee -- or anything else like vet care.
I won't be selfish and keep her as much as I want to.

Sometimes you have to love birds enough to know when it is NOT a good time to have one.

I think after this I'm going to bow out of fostering for awhile. At least until we're financially able to adopt.

But it really stinks having to let my dream bird go...

It's too bad that that you can't bring that Caique into your flock. There will be a time when you can bring one in, though. People who foster birds are angels here on Earth, and you are most certainly an angel...

I don't know... I emailed the adoption coordinator and told it straight. It will be up to her what happens.


I don't feel like an angel... I feel like a baby or a brat because I really, really love this bird and would LOVE to keep her.
Sometimes being a responsible adult stinks!

Good news! When I contacted the adoption coordinator she said that we could work out payments for the adoption fee... that we didn't have to have the entire fee at once. My husband and I are talking it over... so I might not have to give Sadie up at all! This makes me so happy I could cry.
