Yesterday my Nanday Conure (Jack) that I have owned tragically/untimely died.
He was startled so much by a dog toy that was thrown he erratically flew into a bay window in living room. I am dealing with his lost moment to moment and trying not to blame myself.
Has anyone else ever experienced this or similar?

I am so sorry. :sadhug: Don't blame yourself - you weren't trying to hurt him! My very first bird/pet (a gorgeous parakeet named Abby) had a very tragic and untimely death. She was not even 6 months old and randomly her legs became paralyzed, and she was dead by morning :(. I know how impossibly sad it it when you experience a death like this that never should have happened. But don't blame yourself, and try to remember only the good times that you had. I hope that you can feel better soon.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Accidents happen. A woman I know that was fostering a macaw had a similar experience. The macaw got startled and flew into the window.

I’m sorry your having to go thru this but unfortunately accidents do happen we can’t control them always . But what’s important is that jacked know how much y’all loved him , guilt is normal in these situations but you are not guilty jack knew you didn’t do anything to intentionally hurt him he knew how much y’all loved him
