Ringneck training

Hi I'm new to this forum I'm after some advice. 3 days ago I brought home a Indian ringneck she's only 14 weeks old told she's been hand tamed & she loves apple & to keep using that to get her to step up on to finger but as soon as I try & get her to stepup using apples she just goes crazy. Tried using a stick instead of finger but still won't step on to syick using a piece of apple. Any advice would be helpful, think I'm doing something wrong. Plus how long should I wait until I let her out of her cage. Thank you

For my IRN I spent a week just sitting next to her cage talking to her and letting her get used to my presence. On the 3rd or 4th day I started placing my hand close enough for her to warn me but not close enough to scare her and just slowly worked it closer

I also highly recommend you look into target training them before you let them out so even if you can handle them you can still get them back in the cage using targeting

I just wanna add onto target training... For some reason I don't really hear people pushing for birds to be target trained. Its a vital skill, and a super imprtant way to interact with your bird in a hands-off manner. It can also be used for teaching step-up, spin, and recall... So maybe start with target training your IRN.

Their channel was a life saver for researching before I got my IRN and their website is nice with some free and some paid resources, it's also where I buy alot of my baby's toys and perches

Yep!

While I’ve never actually bought anything from them yet (maybe after my birds come on Friday) their channel is so so valuable. Def recommend to anyone and everyone!
