Hello my friends,
I'm looking for the information and help.
I am looking after 2 Eurasian magpies, age approx 7 weeks. They fly and they find their own food. They lost the voice about 2 weeks ago, they started sneezing and gasping for air.
Sometimes they seem to be OK, they are eating and are active, but gasping doesn't stop for too long. They breathe with their beaks open and sometimes they seem to really struggle to get oxygen. Strongest suspicion is a Gapeworm (Syngamus trachea).
I'd like really to help them, however I can't seem to find any birds veterinary at the moment (based in Norway) who can do anything. Apparently they only put down birds.
I have ordered a medication for the treatment but it is coming via post from another country, it might take a while.
Is there anything I can do meanwhile? Anything to make them stronger or reduce inflammation etc?
Can someone please help in any way? With information, advice or questions? I'd be really grateful.
